Prop sizing question

I have a 19' Hurricane deckboat (tri-hull) with a 150hp Mercury inline 6 motor. I took it out this weekend after repairing the tach wiring and I see that at WOT I'm hitting 4200rpm with a 17 pitch prop. Which way do I need to go to hit 5000-5500 rpm at WOT? The one thing that really hits me every time is that I either cruise at 4000 rpm (32 mph) or I'm off plane. There is no middle road. It quickly comes off plane at about 20 mph. Thanks.

Re: Prop sizing question

You don't say what the diameter of your prop is, but you can either go to a smaller pitched prop or a smaller diameter prop.

I don't know if they make a 16 inch pitch for your engine or not, but if they do, you might want to try that in the same size diameter. I would think that would get you very close to your desired rpm.
