Prop Slip?

I have never noticed a change in WOT when heavily loaded or empty - it's always ~6200. I'm running a Solas SS 14.25x17 on a 2006 F225 4 stroke Yamaha pushing a 25' Bennington 2577RFSi. The gps speed does change from 43mph empty to 36mph loaded. I'm just wondering how prop slip comes in to play and how it is calculated.

Re: Prop Slip?

Drago, in my opinion that is very unusual, theoretically it could happen under the right circumstances of trimming the motor. But I have a database of over 200 boats and none of them show that.

I show your motor to have a recommended maximum RPM of between 5,000 and 6,000 RPM and a gear ratio of 2:1, please verify this. Under these guidelines here are your numbers for prop slip, and in my opinion you are alright but not great on prop slip.

The first time you get a chance I would bring a mechanics tach and check your RPM while running the boat at WOT on the water.

Re: Prop Slip?

Thanks. The specs in the manual indicate a gear ratio of 2:1. I'll try to talk with my dealer (Rinker) about the tach to verify rpm.
