I've got a volvo sx outdrive, I've just ordered a new prop and know I need to grease the splines when switching them out. What kind of grease should I be using? is trailer axle grease adequate or is there a marine specific solution?

Re: prop spline grease

if its marine trailer grease its good. mainly trying to avoid prop from sticking on shaft. they do make a specific grease but i think its just universal marine lube.

Re: prop spline grease

My favorite is Tef-Gel, second is Never Seize. We use them on big props, don't know if you have to go to this extreme on smaller props. A 36 inch prop pops right off using either one, in saltwater. Others we haven't had much luck with.
