I pulled a corroded prop off an older Merc (finally, with liberal application of PB blaster, time and a fairly stout gear puller). After cleaning the crud off prop and prop shaft, it looks like the splines in the prop are only about an inch or so long while the splines on the prop shaft extend the full lenght of the shaft. Does that sound right.... only and inch or so of spline in the prop? Doesn't look like they were longer and corroded away..... not consistent. Thanks for any insights...
