OK. So long story short, I take the wife out for a quick bite tonight and my prop was stolen from my boat in my driveway. I thought I had the boat backed up to the garage door but I guess I left too much room. It's my own fault for not removing it, but dang, I live in a good part of town. So, I need to order new prop since I already have a bunch of people wanting to go boating next weekend (myself included)
Boat is a Regal 2200, 5.0 MPI with an Alpha 1 1.62:1. Boat with us & gas weighs close to 4200# I would guess.
Previous prop was a Mercury Offshore Series at 17P, at WOT the boat moved along at 54 on the speedo and the RPMs were right at about 5400. It looks like this prop was replaced by the Vensura (to my eyes anyway)
In an attempt to save some money I am looking at the props here. I definitely want to stick with stainless, but would I gain anything by moving to a 3 blade? Usually it is just the wife and I and sometimes we have another couple with us. We mainly just cruise around and swim, but we will occasionally tube or pull one friend on a slalom ski, so pure water sports performance isn't something we really need.
What would you recommend? I'm leaning towards a 19P stainless, maybe in a 3 blade configuration. This should bring the RPMs back down to the safe range for my engine at WOT but still offer plenty of power to pull up a 170 slalom rider, right?
Unfortunately I am heading out of town tomorrow night, so I need to figure this replacement prop out quick.
Thanks in advance.
