Owner of a brand new 2010 Senza 226 and looking for prop suggestions. I wanted a DP but the end of year price on the one I bought with the SX was too good to pass up so I bought the 2010 rather than waiting for an 2011. The engine is the VP 5.7 Gi. The standard prop is a 14.5 X 21 aluminum which isn't going stay on the boat. I am not against buying two and changing them as needed.
I'm a new boater and relatively ignorant but I read a good bit. Stingray did some excellent write up on props and I'm wondering if that info would translate over (in a general sense) to the Larson. They love the Merc High five for tubing and boarding etc. calling it the best low and mid range accelerating prop they ever tested. However in those tests it cost about 10mph at the top compared to the Merc 4 blade Vensura which was the top end best performer. But they found that going up to a 23 pitch and opening up the vent plugs lost very little in terms of acceleration and gained a few mph on the top end.
Is there one prop that will be a decent all round performer or do I buy two? What do you prop gurus suggest?
HP is 300 @ 5000 rpm
Ratio is 1.51:1
I've not had it on the water but dealer lake tests all their boats before delivery. That boat normally runs around 52-54 mph WOT with the standard prop.
