I just changed boats from a Bass-type @ 1500 lb. to a Crestliner TS 172 V-hull that weighs around 1120 lb. I put my Johnsu 140 4-stroke on the V boat. On the Bass boat I used a Stiletto 14" X 24 P SS which worked well. A little slow out of the hole but would reach WOT, trimmed out 50 MPH GPS. Now on the V boat it jumps out of the hole but will not reach WOT only 43-44 MPH GPS. Recommended WOT for this engine is 5600-6200. On the V boat I'm only getting around 5600 and not much bow lift. The anti-vent plate is around 3/8 " above the keel which is the best position, I've tried 3. Recommendations? <br />Anybody have a 14" X 22P they would like to trade? The vent holes on my prop were professionally machined to accept the Mercury PVS plugs. It has zero nicks and never been re-worked, almost as new.

Re: Prop Swap

No expert here but the V hull is tougher to get out of the water. It sure would seem you could trim to get the bow up.You might check the bottom for a hook or dent or dents near the transom.Or check for water in the foam under the floor. You might check to see if the weight matches the specs. At 1100 It would seem their is a trim problem not a prop problem. If the transom has more rake maybe your not getting enough trim out with your motor.

Re: Prop Swap

2 different hulls...you're not going to see the speed/RPM with the V-hull that you did with the pad-type bassboat...your results are typical, and yes, you may have to step down in pitch, just make sure you have optimized the set-up, and prop from there. It sounds like you've set it up the best you can, and I doubt you will see the speed (I know you won't) or the RPM with that prop.
