Prop turning in neutral on 40 hp mercury

Is it normal for the prop to be turning in neutal ( medium turning ) if not any suggestion how to adjust ? Thanks so much.

Is it turning in the water or on a hose as the shift is a drop pawl and is either in or out but when out of the water the hypoid will cause the prop to turn sometimes. If there is a grinding sound along with the prop turning 1/2 speed you will need to adjust the shift cable.

Thanks for answering, It is connected to a hose whe I notice and there is no grinding noise. I guess this means it is normal,

You'll notice when it is submerged, with a cold engine, it might rotate slowly. My 65hp Merc does this, always has....until things get warmed up. Then no rotation while in neutral. On the muffs with a hose attached, it'll spin a bit...
