prop wont turn when in gear

Yesterday i was cruising around looking for obia when all off a sudden my motor mad a crazy sound and the boat jerked. It almost felt like i had hit something but im 90% sure i didnt unless it was a turtle or something. When i put the boat in gear i get no rotation on my prop. I put the boat in gear when it is off and and tried turning the prop and it would not turn. in nuetral it does turn. So i am guessing its not a simple prop hub fix...does anyone know what im dealing with? thanks

first thing i would do is check the lower unit gear oil drain it see what you got look for chunks of metal if so your not going to be happy....That would be my starting point

For the best results from this site, you shold let us know the year, make, model, HP rating, and serial# so that everyone knows what engine you are talking about.
