Re: prop

If your sure it's just spinning and the prop shaft is not, just get the prop rehubed. It's spun. Most prop shops will rehub props. Cheaper than a new prop.

Re: prop

You have to pull the prop off. The shear pin or drive pin fits thru a hole in the prop shaft and a slot in the hub of the prop fits over the pin. If the pin is sheared or broke, the prop won't turn with the shaft.

Re: prop

No washers, just a straight cylinder. I think they're 304 stainless, could be 316 also never looked too far into it.

Re: prop

The part is designed to protect the gears. Get the part from a dealer or it will be too strong and you will waste your prop or ruin your gears.

I agree. The pin is designed to fail first before any of the more expensive pieces get damaged. They're cheap and readily available.

Re: prop

I duct tape an extra sheer pin and kotter pin to the inside of the engine cover. It's been a real life-saver more than once.

I don't know about your motor.

But, I recall, several of the smaller motors I've had.

Had a little rubber holder inside the cowling for a few extra shear pins.

When I was a kid, and not as carefull, as I could have been.

They sure saved alot of ROWING !! LOL.
