Hello. I am looking at buying a used propeller. It’s from the late to Mid90s. Does propeller Age make a difference?

it’s a Volvo prop for an Sx drive if that makes a difference

Interesting. How old before a rubber hub is garbage? Prop has seen minimal use

I recently swapped props for one that works on my current boat. I obtained a Laser II square port SS. I had an original Laser on a 1989 rig and I don't know how old they were then nor when the Laser II came out but I'm going to say the prop I obtained was no more than a late '90's issue making it over 20 years old.

I asked the dealer if I should be concerned about (rubber) hub slippage with the apparent vintage of the prop. He must have had 50 used props on his shelf so I assume being a marine dealer and having that kind of used inventory and being a cotton top as myself, must have known his business.

I marked the prop and check it when I think about it. The mark is still a straight line.....115 Merc, 20P and I like my hole shots so it gets the test over and over.
