I don't have any! I have a 1993 Evinrude 60HP tiller with a 13 3/4 X 15 aluminum prop. I was looking on e-bay and don't have any idea what prop will fit. There are many that list omc and evinrude. I was told that I might have to step up to a 17 pitch and think I should. What is the criteria for buying a prop. mY model is E60TTLETD and SN G03295058.

Is the engine over-reving with the 15?

c/6

Hooty

I don't have a tach but it does sound like it is. I am just going by what the dealer told me. I bought the motor in Wisconsin and brought it back to Indiana and put it on my boat. He said that it would depend on my boat and rpm's. He did say that I would probably get more top end with the 17??

I should have also told you that I run in the river alot and really need a stainless prop. I thought before I destroy this aluminum which is now about 90 % I would go with a stainless and save this one for emergencies

I'd invest in a "Tiny Tach". They have a web site you can find. The tach is about forty skins and easy to install. You really need a tach to prop it right.

c/6

Hooty

Dunk,I don't know what criteria was used by the person that recommended that you change to a steeper prop, but as Hooty suggests ,it would be blind speculation to make any specific recommendations without knowing the WOT capability of your engine with current prop set-up.The first thing I would do is to obtain a tach and get it installed to verify.A tach is also a beneficial accessory to have in monitoring engine performance. If you do find that a prop of more pitch will best match your rig set-up ,I would go with the OMC as it is designed to more closely match the torque curves of your motor. The OMC SSTs are a good choice.

Re: Propeller Knowledge

I am clear. I sent them an e-mail asking for which model tiny tach would work with my 3 cylinder. They have not responded. If a tiny tach will work I would order one. AS I understand it, my owners manual says full throttle operating range is 5000 to 6000 rpm's and I should be around 5500????

I would concentrate closer to the upper range of that ,nearer to 6000.Your engine will last longer and throttle response will be crisper.

can you explain that? Motor would last longer but I was always told to throttle back a little and take it ea

Re: Propeller Knowledge

Because if you are propped too steep the engine is essentially being lugged at any RPM.The fact that it is capable of turning 6000 at WOT does not suggest that you run it at that for sustained periods without ocassionally backing off.

Re: Propeller Knowledge

Dunk,I could be wrong ,but I was told that the Tiny Tachs were only compatible on even cylinder engines.2 cyl,4 cyl,6 cyl....Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's a link.I may have heard wrong.Looks like the 2C model used with resistor will work on three cylinder engines. web page
