I am trying to identify the size/pitch of my propeller. It's a 2004 Mercury 9.9 FourStroke. I believe the part number for the prop is 48-895180A10. I can't find any site which lists the specifics for prop. Does anybody know where you can find more info on the part or decipher the part number?

Also, the motor is attached to a 12" aluminum fishing boat. Between the motor, 2 guys, battery, gas, etc. there is about 650 lbs of weight in the boat. I was thinking about a 9-1/4 x 8 prop. Does this sound like a good match.

Thanks,
Ron

Re: Propeller part numbers

The standard prop for your motor is the 9" x 8" pitch. The merc. part number for this Black Max prop is 48-828154A12. I do not know how to cross your number, but I do think the 9x8 is a good choice for starters...

Re: Propeller part numbers

I have just upgraded from a 50HP 4S to a 60 HP 4S.
My old prop (SS)part no is: 48-823478 A 5 11P
The prop on the new motor is: 48 73136 A 40 13P.
Both seem to be 11" diam.
Why doesn't the bigger motor would have a larger diameter prop? There is plenty of room below the cavitation plate.
The boat is a 20' Alum centre console. I know it is still under powered, but my budget wouldn't extend any further.
