I have a 1967 RDSL 29E in need of a new propeller. First off cant fond a source for a new aftermarket. I came across a very nice 10 3/8 x 13 but it is without the brass hub in it. Is there a way to pull the hub from one of my bad props and put it in the good propeller? How does one do it ?

The prop is for a 16 foot 1959 aluminium set up for fishing. I would guess total load on an average day would be about 1200 pounds. To include boat weight. I am mot trying to pull tubes or anything just want to get across the lakes as fast as i can. Also is there a tach that i could use with this motor.

Where did you find one without the brass hub? Or are you saying it has an aluminum hub? That would be an aftermarket prop made by Michigan Wheel Co, a quality product. If that is the case, use it as is. Tachs for that motor are long ago obsolete. The only alternative is an induction tach, such as Tiny Tach. Google it.

you could always send in your old props to a prop shop and have them refurbished.

Well i might be mistaken on the hub material then ? thought it was brass. I bought 2 props locally for 20.00, one is a decent 10.5 X 12 with hub and the other is the perfect 10 3/8 x 13.25 without a hub. and i am not familiar with any prop shops in my area (colorado)

No Title

Maybe I didn't say it clearly. The original (and replacement) props from OMC indeed did have brass hubs. However, aftermarket props made by Michigan Wheel often had aluminum hubs. In either case, there is a rubber cushion between the metal hub and the prop itself.

it is probably a bonded hub. not something you can press out.

I don't get it. Why do you want to change the hub anyway? Why not run it with the hub that belongs in there? The rubber bushing is bonded to the metal hub, then the whole thing is pressed into the prop. It is squeezed in there pretty tightly. Putting them in and out is a job for a prop shop with the equipment to do it. Do-it-yourselfers might get it out and not be able to get it back in.

That second prop sounds to me like a Michigan Wheel Vortex that would use a hub kit.
