Hi guys,I have a 17 Mako center console with a 1995 150 Ocean pro.The current prop is a 141/2 x21 SS .The motor came off of a 21 cruisers Bonnaza(a much bigger and heavier boat). This was the right prop for the Cruisers bonanza.I know it cant be the right prop for my Mako.Been to 2 prop shops and they seem to just want to sell me what they have in stock. They dont seem to want to recommend a size by using their knowledge first.I guess they think that all I want is a size reco when what I want is to buy a prop that is professionally recod.Anyone with the knowledge want to try to help me.BTW the current prop feels like I could pull 5 water skiiers. When I push the throttle after already being at cruising speed, you could lose a few passengers.Reminds me of the way my 68 Corvette used to pin me in the seat. Thanks in advance Charlie

Re: Propeller size reco needed

You surely need more prop unfortunately unless the real gurus have first hand experience with setups like yours its a
tough assignment to get it right on the nose.
Not having first hand experience I checked some performance reports
The biggest prop I found was on a 700 lb boat and it was running a 22" ss prop.
at 60 mph. Your boat appears to be 1200 lbs. A brief check of boats close in weight
or close in style listed props in the 17" range.
I would suggest you run her up to the fastest rpm you can dare and get us the rpm and speed by gps. and remind us of the prop size.It does seem unlikely the bigger boat had a 21" prop
and performed properly.

Based on my limited research You have a prop close to what you need. Have you run it to get the wot rpm and speed?
If it has a rev limiter bring it up to it and get us the numbers.
