There are differences in the weight of various props.Aluminum, stainless and composite props vary quite a bit by overall weight. What part does weight play in the overall equation and is a few pounds significant on a 70hp motor?

One thing to keep in mind - a stainless prop weighing more than an aluminum prop of the same size will put more strain on the shifting mechanism. It's more mass to initiate into motion, so when shifting, make sure it's a swift, sure engagement and you're not easing it into gear. That goes for any set-up, but is more critical with the heavier props.

- Scott
