my pontoon has 3 batteries. 1 for motor, 1 for lights and water pump for live well and sink. 1 for trolling motor. the one for trolling motor is an EVERSTART MARINE STARTING. do I charge it just like a regular 12 volt battery or should I charge it in deep cycle. my charger does both but wasn't sure if this battery was deep cycle or not it only says marine starting on it. I have charged it in deep cycle but it takes a long time. first pontoon and this is one of the questions I should have asked previous owner. thanks

Re: proper battery charging

A marine starting battery is definitely not a deep cycle and further should not even be used for a trolling motor as it is not designed for that duty. It should be charged as a starting battery (or whatever that battery is indicated on your charger). Trollers should be powered by a "dual purpose" or "deep cycle" battery.
