I have a 24 ft aqua patio with 115 hp Johnson 14x13prop. Max speed 2adults 1child 17 mph gps and odometer. 4300 rpm at wot . Seems a little slow to me motor seems to sit comparable to others I've looked at seems to push a lot of water around engine. My question is do I need another prop?

Re: Proper speed

Assuming the toons are clean, the current prop is not all banged up, and the engine is ok, then you need to try an 11 pitch. You should gain a little speed but more importantly, your engine will thank you.

What's the WOT range on that engine??

Thinking a 4 blade 11 pitch would be good choice for you depending on RPM range. I switched from a 3 blade to 4 blade and it's like a new boat. Better hole shot, better mid range speed and better top end ( I increased pitch).

Something is not right. I would expect to see more rpm's with your boat and a 13 pitch prop. Is the motor running as it should? Are the Pontoons Clean? Do they have water in them? I have a 24 foot crestliner pontoon with a 115 yamaha and a four bladed 13 pitch prop. I can hit 5600 rpm and 31 mph with a light load and calm water. Your Johnson should give simular results.

I completely agree with crd478.... I have a 26 ft pontoon with 4 stroke 115HP 13 pitch 4 blade prop. With 2 adults 1 child, loaded with coolers for the day, in medium choppy bay seas i can get 27 MPH at 5700-5800 RPM.

I think you can do better. We have a 2010 Party Barge 20 (nearly 21' long) with a 90HP Merc and the stock prop.

This weekend we were out with 6 adults (about 900#), Bimini out + gear on it and I got 20 MPH at 4800RPM. . DW and myself got 25mph at 5000 RPM with the bimini out. Pulling DD on a 76" 4 person tube with the bimini out at 4800 RPM I got 22 mph.

I think that might depend on what prop you have. What are you running now? I have to say it sounds off to me as well. I get 4600 rpm and 20 mph on a beat up 13 3/4 x 15 with my 85 hp Johnson on a 24 ft pontoon. That's with 4 adults (600#) and coolers

This is a good suggestion but I haven't found a 4 blade 11 pitch in a 13 to 14 inch diameter
