Bought a used boat/motor/trailer package that I'm in the middle of refurbishing. Have some concerns about the trailer being suitable for the boat and am looking for some advice.
Boat is a 1970 deep V 15 1/2ft fiberglass with closed bow. Measures 80" wide and 36" high at the stern. No idea of weight. "Looks" heavy. Presently on blocks in the driveway so can't be weighed. Motor is an 80hp merc (300Ib's w/PTT)
Trailer is constructed of 11gauge (0.119") 4" x 1 1/2" formed C channel. THere are three cross members of same construction. The suspension is 5-leaf leaf spring with 32" mounting centers. Tires are 5.70x8" load range C (910Ib ea). The trailer is a tilting type construction. No idea yet what the axle rating is. It is 1 1/2" square and 60" flange to flange.
Do you think this type of trailer is suitable for the boat? Looks to be more suitable for a larger aluminum fishing boat but I am no expert. I'm installing 6 keel rollers and two 2x4 x 7ft bunks.
