Hello everyone the time has come I have a 1989 glastron ssv162 bowrider I'm going to restore. I already replaced the flooring and put in New carper. I Want to repaint the boat next. Obviously evrything has to come off to be prepped for paint ill pull the engine and as much stuff off as possible to make it lighter when its off the trailer. This is a 16'6'' glass boat has some bumps and scuffs has one spot where gelcoat has chipped off and glass is exposed that's why I decided to just repaint it and do the boat work. So my question is,what is the safest way for this boat to be supported while its off the trailer where do I place stands and how much roughly does this weigh? I cannot flip the boat upside down I'm sure its simply to heavy to muscle and don't want to damage it.so I was thinking primer it on the stands move the stands and primer the areas I missed under the hull where the stands were then basecoat it, move the stands where they were spray those areas then clear repeating the stand moving process....any tips tricks to doing this? I went to school for body work years ago so I'm very well rounded. Ideally the best way would be to flip it but I'm sure ill have to spray it being supported under the hull I was thinking on doing some airbrush work on this boat to really make it stand out from the crowd. Any info or links would be great!

If you have the space you can flip the boat. It makes it much easier to make hull repairs and paint. I imagine she weighs in at about 600lbs. 4 big friends should be able to roll her. You will need to remove the windshield but then it should be no problem. Check out Page#4 in my "My Flamingo" thread listed below to see how I made a cradle to support my hull when I flipped mine. My deck and stringers were in but she only weighed about 400lbs. I just pulled her off the trailer onto the grass in the back yard and had my friends roll her over and then lift her onto the cradle took 10 minutes. Cradle cost $50 bucks to build.

Oh I have plenty of space nice heated shop in floor heating fitted to spray autos, honestly with the floor in and only removing seats windsheild and motor you think it only weighs roughly 600?! I thought she was a lot fatter then that
