props?????

i own a 1989 VIP red vindicator.. 302 cubic in. How many diffrent props are there that fit OMC ????? I keep getting props but thy dont fitt all the way down on the shaft??? Im new here so i dont know alot about OMC .... How many diffrent low ends are there ..... CAN ANY BODY HELP......

You could go to the prop section and look up props for your application.
Do you know the hp or displacement? Check a number of props for your year and those before and after see if the sku number matches or hub numbers are the same.
You could also ask in the I/O section about gearcases gear ratios etc.
checked 87-91 5.0 all are 15 spline,some are 87,88 are 1.50 ratio,
89,90,91 are 1.59. pretty sure these are all the same prop/hub.

If your boat is the same as mine, which should be the Ford 302 w/ OMC Cobra outdrive. The lower units for these should all be the same. It sounds like you might have the wrong thrust washer or something. My first new prop I thought wouldn't seat all the way until I realized the hub wasn't fully seated.

You drive ratio should be a 1.5. I'm running a 19 pitch prop, which works excellent with our combination.
