pt130 tilt trim question without tilt assist hooked up

yesterday I had my pt 130 tilt and trim installed. My lever (tilt assist lever I believe) was broke I told the installer not to worry about repairing the cable for the lever as I would have the tilt from the pt 130. Here is my concern, when I shift the motor in reverse is it going to kick up on me. What is going to hold the motor down from coming up. Am I going to have to have that cable repaired to be able to put the lever in the lock position.

the cable is for the release. and if you hit something in forward, it will automaticly release. it should stay down.
