Hey all,

I've got a REAL old Sears 12Hp (mid 1960's model) pull-start motor.

On my last 2 outings, I've developed a problem with the pull-start mechanism - in which it is no longer sliding freely up & down to engage, and disengage the teeth of the crankcase.

I've tried lubing it with a silicone lube (SiliKroil) - But that's not working. Any ideas?

I wonder if this 109+ degree temperature has warped the plastic slider enough and made it "stick" to the aluminum shaft...

Any ideas? Here's a link to my page on the web with pics of it... http://www.tntbuildings.com/boat/

And here's a link to the pic...

Thanks,
Rex
