I recently purchased a 1994 merc 8hp LS to use as a kicker. I have zero experience in these as I am used to electric start and steering controls.<br /><br />This is the first time I've started it, and I think the pull to prime switch may be broken.<br /><br />I pulled the switch, and got it started, but the switch also turns left to right. Is this supposed to do something? Maybe fast idle adjustment? <br /><br />After the engine started, I pushed the button back in and kept is running, but had no way of adjusting the idle other than to put it in gear.<br /><br />Anyone have a good explaination on the switch for me, or is something just simply broken?
