I was attempting to do a water pump impeller rebuild on a 95 40 hp Tracker followed all steps from a youtube video and just as I pulled the lower end free 2 plastic washers or spacers a little less than a 1/4" thick each dropped to the ground. I do not know where they go but I think they came from the rear of the motor. I have shined a light inside and can't see where they would fit and looking in the lower end I thought maybe what I have heard it called from another video is the shift shaft area but when I looked in that area on that video they were not there either. These washers are also both split/cracked down the side and I would need to know the part # for replacement also. I have tried looking on parts diagrams but the way the photos are they are more confusing to me. The washers are plastic and I checked in the impeller rebuild kit and they are not included with it so I do not think it was part of that area.

IMG_20190525_172805854.jpg thanks for the response but not those washers. I never took the impeller cover off I stopped as soon as I separated the lower end and the 2 washers or spacers dropped out. Mine are thicker. They are hard. There was a thicker rubber washer sitting tight against the top of the water pump housing, it is visible in one of the pics. Would these to smaller plastic washers sit on top of it? The thickness of the 2 together equal about the thickness of the rubber washer on the top of the water pump housing. I looked all over last night while changing the impeller and gaskets and I see no other place for them to go. They look like they have a few teeth marks worn into them from the top of the gear shaft but since they are both split a part I don't know if they are too small for that shaft since they completely separate a part when I slide them on. I also can't tell from parts diagrams if there is anything else in that spot on the shaft.
