pulley steering > '71 evinrude > how do i connect it?

the pulley system has a metal hook, that is secured witha locking pin (60's style)

how do i mate that to my 1971 engine which looks like it wants a teleflex or similar cable?

i took the pin out and bolted it to the connection on the front of the motor.

All you need is a flat bar with 3 holes to go on the tiller arm. Center hole to pivot on the tiller and two holes in the ends to attach the pulleys. Sell your present attachment on e-bay. I just sold one for $27.75.

There should be a machined hole in the front of the loop/handle on your Evinrude. Pull the pin back, place the connector on your handle, pin will fit through the handle hold, turn the pin a little to lock it in...or do as TD recommends and replace the pin with a bolt/nut. Makes a more secure connection.

this is connect to an 88 50hp same principle.
