Pulling flywheel tool, noob help

Wondering if i can use a normal flywheel turner to pull a 1990 v-200 mercury. something like the picture. and any tips u may have Ive never done it but I think the stator may be bad

Nope...go to ebay and buy one for around $40...that is just a holder for doing a leakdown test..no other reason to hold the flywheel...the puller is a must to avoid breaking the expensive flywheel if you use a regular jaw puller...

oho..so your saying I dont need to even use a flywheel turner just the flywheel puller? I was thinking I needed to hold the flywheel or it would just spin. Just need something like this? or do i need both. ty

You can get a harmonic balancer puller at a auto parts store...three bolts screw into the flywheel holes.

dan, what you need is a simple but very rugged flywheel puller as I posted. However, you have to make absolutely sure you use grade 8 bolts or you will break lesser grades easily. Those OB flywheels are seriously on there with their tapered shaft. So it takes some serious effort to pop them off...
