I was driving my buddys 1979 Switzer with a 470 mercruiser last night a noticed it pulls left real bad.
When i pulled it out i noticed no anod above the prop.
Should there be one there?

Re: Pulling left bad.

The anod is your sacrificial lamb and should be there to extend the life of the submersed parts of your motor so for that reason, yes.

However, some motors have an anod (my last Merc did) I tried to play with that positioning to compensate for oversteering of to the left. I had no real success but I would suspect that it could have a minimal impact on that.

I would think the absence of one would cause this. If I understand correctly, boats usually steer of center of the direction of their props anyway so I guess it would truly depend on how bad this is steering to the left?

My merc did but as I mentioned, playing with its position (single bolt adjust from above) had zero affect on it. But I'm new to this whole thing so I'm just adding my thoughts.

Now my 2001 Johnson has the anod inserted further forward on the foot and simply is there as to counteract the effects of metal submersion in water. I has no such adjustment.
