I have a 89 inboard v8 350 on my wellcraft and i want to put the exhaust through the transom but i cant unless i take the bullhorn out. (the steel Y pipe that hooks down out the outboard pipe and takes it through the propeller) The only way to get that attached is to pull the motor out because i dont have enough room on the right side of the motor due to the steering arm..
My question is once i take the motor out and unattached the bullhorn is that a special plug that is made to close where the bullhorn was attached or what???
Has anyone ever taken one off before any tips..

Once the bullhorn is gone i can easily take the 4in exhaust out the back.

Thanks for your help.. if there is any parts that i will need like the plug please list or send a link.
Also what are the best tips for the transom.

THANKS

If you get late model center rise manifolds, or if you have them, you can get riser spacers, in 3", or 6", that should take your riser elbows above the Y-pipe, so you should be able to go straight out the back of your transom with exhaust hose to tips, over the Y-pipe, with no problem, (without removing it) No???

Thru-Hulls don`t really give you much of anything but more noise.Maybe if you had blown 502`s or something similiar you might gain a smidgon.
Considering pulling the drive, engine, Y pipe, new chrome tips, wet exaust hose, cutting more holes in the transom, engine re-alignment,giving ear plugs to your guests one has to wonder "Is It Really Worth It"

My Exhaust is like MikeDee described. My Bullhorn is still in the boat, it was just capped off when they installed the Thru Hull exhaust. The tubes barely fit over top of it, but they do fit.

Much easier then ripping out the engine and all that other work you will have to do, for the exhaust, honestly.

It makes sence leaving it on but there is no room because of the steer arm and the top of the Y . no room to put a 4in rubber exhaust hose.. Thats why i was thinking about taking it off.
The raisers are already high enough all i really need is the tips and the rubber exhaust hose thats it.
