Pulling old '898' Merc and drive...

Howdy!

I used to own a set of Merc shop manuals - the real McCoy - but like an idiot, I loaned to somebody and now they're history.

I'm pulling the old 305/Chevy (1980) and pre-Alpha drive system from my boat in preparation for the new 4.3 install.

If one of you kind people have the Merc page that walks you through the engine disconect etc. and could post it for me, I'd be a might grateful!

I have a guy with a forklift whose offered to pull it and dispose of the engine for me - for $20/bucks. I'm going to take him up on the offer.

There Ain't Much to it Andy,.....

6 nuts,+ the rams to pull the Drive,........

The Wiring,+ Lines on the Motor,....
2 bolts in the rear,... 2 motor mounts in the front,+ Yank it........

The Transom Plates are 6 nuts, possibly a few wires, the hyd. lines, steering cable+ It's Free.......

Don't forget to shift it into forward before you try to pull the drive.
