I've gone through two motors, a Force 85 and a Merc 75, bought both of them used over the last 2 months. The Force was a dud from the get go, the Merc just died on me. Needs a rebuild. I'm definitely not mechanically inclined so I'm looking at another motor.

It's a Yamaha 90 HP 2003, the owner purchased an extended warranty from Yamaha till 2008. He is asking $5200 for it. Is that reasonable? Anything I should be on the look out for?

Thanks in advance.

Anything I should be on the look out for?
a service manual.

seriously!!!

before you buy a $5200 dollar motor that may become an anchor, ask yourself, "why did the first two blow up"

unless you find this out, the third will do the same thing. a warranty does you NO good when your 20 miles out and your piston is sticking outa your block.

motors dont just "blow up"

my first THREE outboards blew up, and partially cause i had NO clue what to look for in them.
they were 65 suzuki, 85 evinrude, 50 evinrude. all within a one month period

service manuals rock !!!
