Hello all,

I'm brand new here as I'm about to buy a 1999 GS 201 Fundeck Hurricane deck boat. I came from a pontoon boat so I know some about boating, but I'm new to deck boats.

I'm about to buy this mint condition boat for a price of $14500. The boat's been upgraded to a 2004 Honda 200 motor that has about 60 hours on it. Overall the boat only shows about 120 hours. The boat also been upgraded to hydraulic steering a like-new stainless steel prop, Perco switch, and water/fuel seperator. Included is a full canvas cover and a canvas cover for the motor and the original twin axle trailer. The boat was garaged when not in use and during the winter months.

So finally here's my questions:
I think the price of the boat is high, but I when saw the boat's condition and upgrades I understood. What do you think of price?

I don't want to trailer the boat. A local Hurricane boat dealer will pickup/drop off the boat for maintenance with their trailers. The dealer is offering me $500 for the original and very nice condition dual axle trailer, which seems really low. What you think of the trailer price and might there be a good reason for keeping the trailer and paying for its monthly storage? If I sell the boat, will not having the original trailer be a problem?

I'm told the original motor was a 115. Should I be concerned about the added weight of the 200?

I hope to test drive it today which will seal the deal. Anything else about this boat that I should be aware of?

Thanks for your help.

a 1999 with 120 seems unlikely. However, the condition is more important than the hours. If it has a 2004 Honda 200HP with 60 hours (you should confirm)

However, if those pieces and the information you've provided are correct, I'd say that the boat is only marginal in being on the high side. You didn't mention location so hard to compare. I'm in Canada. A boat with that configuration would most likely go in the $13k range so you'll have to factor other prices in that area.

$500 for the trailer is too low if its in very nice condition and for future sale, you'll most likely need a trailer. I wouldn't consider a boat without a trailer even though I only pull it in/out twice a year.

Extra weight of 200 is no problem. That boat should be rated for a larger engine than 115HP and most likely a 200HP. What the max HP rating for the boat?

NelsonQ, thanks for the info. I purchased the boat and should have it in the water next week. The boat's rated for a 200HP motor so that worked out fine. The motor turned out to be a 2002 with about 80 hours on it. Overall the boat has about 110 hours. I got a little bit more money for the trailer so I bought the boat without it.
