Purchasing older model Evinrude

The engine is a 125 283R<br />s/n J01136<br />Starflite<br />The motor an has 68 hours on it all fresh water. Has been garaged in south west. Can anyone tell me what year this motor is and if that year motor had any quirks that I should stay away from. Anything I should inspect before purchasing? It look to be in great condition havent run it yet but has all of maintneace records.<br /><br />Icetrap and has

125 283 model number is a 1972.<br />take motor for a water test, under load to see how it runs, check the compression<br />others will hop in to advise you<br />good luck

If you buy it plan on new plugs, water pump & change gear oil unless the maintenance records show that they have been done within the past year.
