I have a 25 hp electric push button (mounted on side of engine housing). Good battery, but will not start when I push the button. Will crank and run when I use the pull start.
1, Can I use a Ford solenoid on this motor (4 terminal)
2. Can't jump the solenoid, completly dead. I did change the battery, new one fully charged hooked up to it.
3. When I put a hot wire to the starter side and the small terminal the starter kicks in.
4. Is there a safety switch or rectifier that might be bad?
5. Where can I get an OEM manual for this motor?

Thanks,
George

1. Yes, but don't make any connection to the small "I" terminal. The Ford is grounded internally and the I terminal is for a different purpose.
2 & 3. I don't understand your tests. If you jump between the battery + terminal and the small, ungrounded solenoid post, the solenoid should activate and the starter run. If it does that, the solenoid is not bad.
4. No.
5. www.outboardbooks.com but it probably won't cover the electric starter because it was an accessory. Maybe they will have the accessory sheets--ask them.
