Put my boat in the water today... at last

Finally got my boat together and tried it out today. After a year of working on it replacing transom, stringers and floor. It was a basket case when I got it so I didn't know for sure if the eng and outdrive were ok. Everything worked good, got 46 mph (gps) at 4500 rpm, hit some large wakes at an angle and bounced around. The boat felt solid, no noise and didn't leak a drop of water. What a relief, now to start on the upholstery and make a few repairs to the carb and replace the gimbal bearing. After being in outside storage for 15 years I guess I have to expect the carb to need some work. I got a lot of info from this board to give me the confidence to try this project, very satisfying. Its an 87 Chris Craft 4.3 Omc Cobra. I tried keeping photo records but got lax and only took a few pics.

CTD,glad to hear you got it in the water and all went well.Rest of the work should go a bit quicker.Lot of satisfaction when you finaly get her all done and running well.I have a 20' Tempest and it's an 87 also with a 4.3 OMC Cobra.Getting the floor and stringers done right now and doing the interior this winter.Finaly got most of my upholsty done and just finished doing all the teak work. Can't wait to get it back in the water.Man it does take time and money don't it?
