Putting a late 80's Black Max 200 back into service - need help!

Its been in storage for about 4 years.
It starts, runs, and idles fine as-is in the driveway with a flush kit on, but water isnt flowing consistantly from the tell-tale (steam sometimes) and I simply dont trust its cooling system at this point.

I'm good with tools, machines and my hands, but I'm no good at finding parts for this thing.
For example, there seems to be a couple of different thermostats, but I'm not sure which ones I need.

The serial number is A148209 and I need:
Thermostats
Poppet valve kit
Water pump
A premix conversion kit

Can someone point out exactly what part numbers I need, or to a website that's reliably accurate.
Thanks.

Hi

Most probably the impeller needs to be replaced. The rubber becomes dry and cracks.Try this at first before changing other parts. Mercury part No seems to be 89984 on the impeller. Demount the water pump housing and make sure surfaces inside are without marks and corrosion pits.

Try to find your motor serial number to be sure when ordering parts. There is change on the 200 hp motors from a certain number. Motor number is on transom bracket, on motor or on a freeze plug on top of motor.

Hi Dashunde,
I just performed similar with my 1990 black max 200. I wont be answering your questions as i do not have any of the numbers i believe you can order everything here from iboats. I would also add to your list, carb rebuild kits, fuel pump rebuild kit, all new fuel lines.

Good luck,

Eric

Thats great, Thanks.

Now how do I convert this particular motor it to premix?
Is there a show-n-tell artical somewhere spelling out the right way to do it?
