I have a plan for putting the screws in that attach my new floor to the stringers. I'm going to drill with a countersink bit, inject a little epoxy in the hole, put the screw in and use a filler to cover them up. then I'll glass over.

But what about the screws that go over the carpet like the screws that hold the lounge seats down and the screws for the trim around my ski well hole? Any special way of doing this?

We just seal them with a small amount of silicone

Don't use silicone in a boat. Use sealant like Sikaflex 291 or similar instead.

When coating screws silicone will work, thats about all that we use it for, Sikaflex is great, so is 3M 5200 but really not needed to seal a screw--Bob

don't trust silicone.. silicone will always fail overtime to prevent moisture from getting thru/past it.. it doesn't really bond to anything.. it's a gasket at best..

ok, so drill the hole, put some sealant on the screw and drive it in, or what?

Pun get a scredriver and put the screw through the floor into the stringer. No real need for epoxy at this point. You will be covering the floor with epoxy and glass correct? If you are then you just put the glaas and epoxy over the screw and your sealed.

As to the other screws make some epoxy up and put a dab where you want the screw and drive it into the floor. Or get a sealer not silocone but this.

5200 only way to go on screw holes

just make sure the 5200 makes a ring around the head of the screw and your good to go

(If you dont have 5200 then get a small tube..it will come in great with your boating needs)

Yacht Dr.

I use the GE silicon, sometimes you can get it at Wal Mart, for under $5.00. Read about it from Jamestown Dist. Co. :)

http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/ak/Caulking/GE_Silicones_fam/
