Going to be replacing the deck on my 1995 Larson 214 LXi here in the next month. Done a lot of research here - what a wealth of information! Anyway, while all the fiberglass and resin work looks like good fun, I was wondering if anyone has considered or used plastic composite plywood for their decking. I would love to be able to use all non-wood material if I can so I never have to worry about this dreaded problem again. I am also thing of making the stringers from PVC 2x4's as well. Anyone here have any experience with this stuff? Here is a link to the material. It says its used for ship decks. The 1/2" ply is $99 + delivery (probably as much as the material cost). Hoping to find a local (Atlanta) source.

Am I completely off base here?

Thanks,

Ben

Re: PVC Deck Material?

It's been discussed at length here before. The plastic wood is not rigid enough to be used as stringers. Stringers still need to be properly glassed in. Neither polyester or epoxy resins will stick to plastic.
