I just bought an older year 2000 Mercury 9.9 Extra Long Shaft Bigfoot and want to mount it on my 1969 24ft Tollycraft Express Cruiser as an auxiliary emergency motor tied into my my Volvo Penta SX sterndrive with an EZ Steer link rod.

Motor has a remote control at the helm

Weight spec shows 127 lbs dry.

[Q] Can anyone recommend a Kicker Mount model# that would support this size of motor?

Like Garelick or Panther?

If so, can you spec the model # of mount?

I have a 2000 Merc 9.9 EL 4 stroke kicker (non Bigfoot model). Engine weight is listed as 115 lb dry. I went with a Garelick adjustable height mount model 71090 and it's worked well. The mount is easily adjusted vertically according to sea conditions. I see on the Garelick web page there is the very similar 71091 which has more vertical travel range. Might be an option for your deeper transom/longer leg combination. Need to get that kicker leg clear of the water when you're running on the main.

It takes a bit to become adept at connecting the EZ Steer link though: tilt main engine/stern drive forward, tilt kicker forward, connect linkage, lower main, lower kicker, adjust linkage to make engines parallel. If your main cuts out in foul weather conditions, you'll never perform that sequence safely. If I really have to make a crossing in bad weather, my rule is the kicker has to be in the water, steering linkage connected and kicker running (in neutral) before leaving the dock. Will be a slow trip anyway in rough seas so the second leg in the water isn't a big issue.

Thanks all. I found the heavy duty OMC variant that will hold 125lbs and it fit into my lighter duty OMC holes well. I am going to get a Tohatsu 9.9 HT XL shaft 25in which is 95lbs.
