I'm a new guy. I've been reading this wealth of information here and need to ask a Q. I'm into a 86 17' Bass Traker up to my ears and so far it's going good. Motors running and I'm almost rewired. The new fuse box will go in tomorrow. I have new chairs for it but before I can mount them I have to make a lid for the compartment they cover. They were open holes with no seats when I picked her up.... I have cut 5/8 plywood to cover the hole and mount the seat to.

Can I coat the wood with fiberglass resin and no cloth just to waterproof it? What was the old factory cover for the wood? Carpet, vinal, paint??? What were the original fastiners from the hinge to the seat base?

I sure appreciate it. I've already learned allot here.

Thanks,

Re: Q on resin

alright couper, another player...

poly resin won't last by itself. either lay some mat or go with epoxy and you can skip the mat. the factory probably used poly resin and mat, maybe some cloth too. you can also buy hatch covers, iboats sells some. not sure how you'd mount seats over them though.

not sure about the hinges, i haven't had to shop for those.
