I have a problem.....my Q5 SF has a second battery for the trolling motor which needs to be plugged into an extension cord from either the dock or cottage in order to charge. I currently cannot use either of these options because 1) there are no outlets located on the dock and 2) I am not able to run an extension cord from the cottage to the boat since it is docked at a public facility (manager won't let me).

Is there anything I can install on the boat in order to charge the battery?

Thanks!

Re: Q5 SF Second Battery for Trolling Motor

Good question, and I want to add a different twist. I have a battery booster, that I can plug in an ac receptacle to charge, then use it to charge a battery.
However I have an onboard two bank charger on my boat. Will the battery booster damage my onboard charger?

I would think a solar trickle charger would work, without damage, if I can't use the battery booster?

I thought about using a solar panel charger since the battery would never be fully drained. Solar charging should work but I'm not sure how long it would take to charge.

I'm hoping there are other options.....

Cheers.
