Hey guys, me again. I changed the impeller and put new seals, o-rings, and gaskets in the LU tonight. I also checked the spark for both cylinders. 1good, 1 bad. The coil for the bad plug looks origional, ie its cracked bad! the other coil and points look to have been replaced recently. coil looks new and points look perfect. should I do both colis and both points if only one coil is bad? the ideal answer and the realistic answer would be much appreciated. Also i'm going from a 50:1(bad) to a 24:1(good) mix, how much will this affect low and high speed screw settings or carb settings?

Re: qd-19 coils and points

Kevin,
Did you replace only the seals in the lower unit that looked bad and keep the old one's that looked good? Probably not, most folks don't split hairs. It's best to replace them all, this way you know for sure that the job is done right.
Same for the coils, replace them both. The cost for new coils is cheap insurance against problems later. Waiting and not knowing when that old coil will so south, is not worth your time.
As to the fuel mix change, just re-do the initial high and low speed mixture adjustments and you should be good to go.

Hi Kevin,
If it were mine, I probably would NOT replace the one good coil. That replacement is a much better coil than the original and not likely to crack. If money isn't a problem and you want some extra peace of mind, go ahead and replace it, and keep the older "new" one as a spare. It won't hurt to replace both sets of points, as they tend to wear equally over time, and replace both condensers.
- Scott
