QD20 10hp powerhead rebuild

hey guys-project went to sleep a couple months due to work. but i have the above and all parts and i am currently putting back together. have factory manual and parts manual. question is regards to o-ring seals that go over crankshaft journal bearings.<br />lower journal bearing has an o-ring that goes over it and fits into a groove that is machined into the crankcase boss-to save compression per manual. UPPER BOSS HAS THE MACHINED GROOVE BUT NEITHER PARTS MANUAL OR FACTORY MANUAL EXPLODED VIEW of later QDs show an o-ring that goes over upper journal bearing. exploded view of QD14 crankshaft group in manual DOES show an o-ring on upper bearing. i am near positive that the upper journal bearing did not have this on breakdown, this but the groove IS there-do i need it? anyone know? thanks.

I don't have the manual in front of me, but as I recall, that upper is an oiling groove. Is'nt there a small metal, or rubber tube that run's from the bottom of the crakcase to the top that match's up with this groove. I believe there is a hole in the case of the upper bearing that also match's this groove.
