I hope there are some Rochester Quadrajet experts here. I am in the middle of a rebuild and had a question I hope someone here can answer.
Looking at the parts of the carb., the float needle has a small wire called a pull clip attached to the top. Is this just used for removing the float needle from the assembly, or does it attach to something?
Also on my instructions that came with the rebuild kit it states to reuse the spring and clip on the old pump assembly, even though the new pump assembly in the kit has these parts installed on the new pump? Should I use all the new parts, or replace the spring and clip?

Thanks

The little spring clip attaches to the back of the float arm near the needle seat. It supposedly helps keep the needle from sticking in it's seat, or dropping completely out of it's seat.

I would use all the new parts from the kit on the accelerator pump. Also, make sure your power valve, controlling the primary metering rods (in the middle of the primary bores), works freely, & smoothly, in it's bore, it is spring loaded.

So the needle is pulled up when the float is down in the bowl? This is how it looks like it is with it attached to the back of the float with the wire clip.

Thanks

No!Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression, but the needle needs to move up, & down, with the float. I'm trying to remember (visualize it), but I think there should be a brass (or metallic) tab at the hinge facing towards the front of the float, that would be where it goes.

Ok, I will try again. With the needle in it's proper place in the assembly and the float "arm" above it, the wire clip attaches straight up above it?
In other words you have the float, back from the float is the pivot point, and back from that is the needle assembly. So attaching it where I mentioned, with the float down in the bowl (no gas), the back of the float "arm" is up and puling up on the needle. Is this correct???

Re: Quadrajet Rebuild

It goes on the front of the float arm, (float side) not the back, so the needle moves up, & down, with the float. There sometimes is a little tab there to put it on, if not, then it goes right on the float arm itself.

Attached is a picture of the needle and a diagram of my set up in the Quadrajet. It is the float on one end, the pivot point in the middle, and the needle assembly at the other end. It cannot be attached where it raises with the float when the pivot is in the middle.
