Hello. I recently purchased my first used boat a 1993 '17 proline center console fishin' boat with a 115 merc. I primarily use it in the bays however, I know of a good wreck dive spot about 3 miles out in the gulf that i am considering. I would like to know if you think this is a bad idea?

In good weather, I wouldn't hesitate to go three miles offshore in a 17' Proline. I stress GOOD WEATHER. They are very good boats and very seaworthy except under extreme conditions when all small boats are in trouble. Of course, I would also want a good VHF radio and preferably, an auxilary motor.

as jack says...nothing wrong with taking a 17 proline out that far.....a vhf radio is a must though!
