Quality of penzzoil

Penzzoil got into Denmark now and is available from a few Dealers already now. I consider using the full syntetic 5W40 for my Volvo Car, as I read a lot of threads on this site, mentioning Penzzoil. Is this a good choice compared to the gas companys brands ?

Pennzoil non synthetic is a very good oil, and their synthetic is also good, but there are many better choices for the same price - like Mobile 1.

Mobil has been doing the synthetic oil thing for a long long time, they are very involved in racing and have learned much over the years. Like OZ said, Pennzoil is a fine oil, but if you want maximum protection go with Am, excuse me, Mobil1.<br />Boy, almost messed up.

I'm not a big fan of Pennzoil conventional motor oil. Have experienced thermal breakdown in the heat of summer. Had it tested by lab to verify this is what happened. New sample of Pennzoil did same thing. I've noticed since then that all of the local oil change shops have stopped using Pennzoil, although I think that, to them, cost is the primary consideration. Don't know if they stopped because of problems, because people who could answer this question are not available locally. I don't know about Pennzoil synthetics.

wow JACK,, that's interestin'.. <br /><br />i use the junk.. just outta,, gotta use sumthin',, pennzoil caught my eye in their brite yellow containers an the sexy bathin' beauties ( no wait that's somethin' else )<br /><br />it always amazes me the love & conviction people have for a particular oil..an they delvolpe a bond to it..<br /><br /><br />guess all because they use it many vehicles an for many years an the engine ain't blow'd,, it's a great oil an reccommed it to all in earshot..<br /><br />it's like,, besides that,, how the heck do know it's a great oil..?? did they run test on it..??<br /><br />in your case ,, you did..!!<br /><br />what kind do you like & use, JACK..??

Boy Jack, I have a hard time understanding that. It appears that Pennzoil has some of the best Used oil analysis reports of any regular oils out there from what I have seen in the last year, and Im not a Pennzoil guy. Not even a hint of breakdown. Honestly, I do not know of any that do, not even supertech at WalMart. Hard to buy a really bad oil anymore.

Exactly. As long as you use an oil that meets the latest spec for whatever equipment you are using it in, and keep it clean, your engine will last a long time. The main difference between $.99 store brand oil and $6 Amsoil is that the Amsoil can go longer between changes...

I read somewhere. . .probably here. . . that Pennsylvania crude is superior for lubrication. That mainly means Pennzoil and Quaker State.<br /><br />Used to use QS, years ago before Mobil 1 became available, and never had a problem.

Pennziol synthetic is NOT what Pennzoil built its reputation on. I'm sure it's great.<br /><br />Pennzoil built is reputation on parafin based oils from the eastern US oil fields. Good stuff.<br /><br />When you go synthetic, forget about the origin, only the additive package is important. I would risk saying that Pennzoil has a great name and is NOT going to put it on a bad product.
