I just bought a pontoon boat with a 1971 Chrysler 70hp and right before we put it in the water I noticed that the fuel line squeeze bulb was cracked and leaked a little fuel on my hand. The boat ran pretty well for a couple hours with minor cutting out but we never opened it to WOT. When I took the wheel I opened it to WOT and it bogged down and didnt run well all the way back to the ramp. When I took it out of gear and it was not under load then it picked back up. My question is do any of think the cracked bulb in the fuel line had anything to do with it? Or just carbs.

Re: Question 1971 Chrysler 70hp

Sounds like the whole fuel system needs to be gone thru.A leaking hose is DANGEROUS!!!! Do compression/spark test just to make sure.
\Ethanol is messing up a lot of motors. It's delaminating the inside of older hoses causing clogs in the carbs and fuel filter.Check for soft hoses and junk in the filter on the motor. It will ruin the diaphram in the pump.J
