I'm going to get the engine number and all that but I don't have it right now. It is a mercury v-6 2.5l (switch box ignition).
I have one cylinder that isn't firing, #6, but it only isn't firing at the plug. I can take the jumper off and ground it to an engine ground and it will fire (using a spark checker) but when I put it onto the plug it doesn't fire. My first thought was that it was the plug so I changed the plug a couple of times but still had the problem. I cleaned where the spark plug touches the head because I thought maybe it wasn't grounding but that didn't change. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe the coil is too weak to get the spark through the plug but not the regular ground. Any ideas?
