I just purchased this Johnson/Suzuki motor a couple of weeks ago and the motor works great except when launching my boat with a cold motor. The motor will run rough and die as soon as I put it in gear so I have been giving it more gas, pass idle speed. Thats kind of a balancing act, trying to give it gas fast enough after taking it out of neutral so it doesn't die while I drift towards shore.

Now when I start the motor I push the key in for Choke, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I've checked my plugs and they look good, the electroids do not look worn down at all.

I'm thinking I'll have to take this to the dealer but if there is any advice you could share with me I would appreciate it.

Thanks..

Nope, push to choke serves no function on an EFI. No choke.

The sparkplugs can look good and you can still have a bad one. Try replacing them.

Make sure your throttle is all the way down at idle while starting. Some EFIs become confused when started above idle.

(I must admit, I got a kick out of The Electroids. Maybe that will be the sequel to The Incredibles. ;))
