Question about '76 Johnson 35hp

I have a 1976 Johnson 35hp. Can anyone tell me if the lower unit from a mid- 70's 25hp Johnson will work on my motor? Thanks, Jdman

It wont. 76 was the first year for that lower unit and only the 35 used it. The 25 had exhaust above propeller.
